224th North London Air Scout Group has recently started supporting a local Foodbank.
We are in the early days of supporting this local volunteer service however, we have made a good start despite the current lockdown situation.
We have made available, the use of our Scout Headquarters as a temporary food store. We have also delivered leaflets to the local community.
We will continue to support as best as we can in the current circumstances, and when restrictions ease, the Scout Group can really support in a big way.
"224 North London Air Scouts are working with Food Bank Aid North London. This is a collection hub for over 20 local food banks and it uses the scout hut on Sheldon Avenue. I volunteered to deliver leaflets in my local area. These encouraged people to donate items to the food banks and had information about what was needed and where they could be left. The sort of things they request are tinned food, fresh fruit, vegetables and toiletries. I was pleased to do this as we are encouraged to volunteer at my school. It was also good to get exercise during lockdown."

"When there was a call to support North London food banks via 224 North London Air Scouts, Iva, a 224 scout and her brother Panash, a 224 cub volunteered to support their local community for this great cause. Due to the post-Christmas effect, the demand and supply gap in January is higher than normal. It therefore becomes critical to provide as much additional support as possible to the food banks".
Iva and Panash helped out with a number of activities last week and are committed to continue with the effort in the near future…
